I had a garage sale this last weekend. In that sale was an end table with a checkerboard top that I didn't really want to get rid of, it just didn't seem to fit anywhere. Well all my cheapskate garage shoppers helped me decide to keep my table and make it work!
I decided to replace the tonal wood with black and white. I wanted to make the paint like it was barely hanging on, but mid project my plans changed. The wood was super waxy and so I distressed it as much as I could without making a big ol' mess.
Here it is, as usual, in process....I NEVER get a full before shot (bad me!!!!).
After I had already finished the top I took a picture of the bottom half.
And here it is all dressed up in black and white.
I think I'm in love.
So this project got me thinking about how stinkin' easy painting a checkerboard on any boring old end table would be.
Somebody, anybody... take this and run with it, and then show me what you did!!!
